Teachers are basically angels on earth, right?
Who but someone sent straight from heaven could spend day after day around 10, 20, sometimes even 40 plus kids calling out their name over and over? Even the cutest and sweetest of kids can be a bit much for the non-celestial.
And patience…my goodness patience! People use the term, “Patient as a saint”, but a more accurate term may be, “Patient as a teacher”! Sure, there are exceptions to every rule, of course. But, 99.999% of teachers are completely amazing beings who deserve our everything…or at the very, very least our heartfelt thanks and a thoughtful gift.
So, what do you give these amazing saints of humanity you may ask? Here are a few simple yet great ideas:
Gift Cards – Teachers love gift cards! Don’t worry about the “but it’s not very personal” part of it. You can personalize the gift card to your teacher’s likes (get your Room Mom or child to get the scoop for you!). Maybe they like coffee or are huge fans of a special store in town. You can also just go big-box like Amazon or Target – they have pretty much any and everything!
If you want to personalize the packaging of your gift card, check online. There are ton of online stores and Etsy shops that offer super cute options. Check out these great finds from Papertraildesign.com, The Digi Sloth (Etsy) and CaffeineAndWine (Etsy).
Sock/slipper goodie bag – get some fuzzy socks or slippers and fill them with lotions, bath bombs, shower gel, a sweet treat or two and nail polish for the female teachers or a combination of things your male teacher would like. Check out these ideas from Pretty Providence . Hopefully this will help make sure your teacher takes some much deserved time to themselves.
How about a movie night at home? Wrap up some microwave popcorn, some of your teachers favorite goodies, and a Redbox gift card.
A warm blanket or scarf is also a great idea! Add in a sprig of greenery and a special note like the folks from penny pincher . Your teacher will be sure to feel all nice and long.
The gift of time – Teachers spend most of their time either actually at school or at home planning what they are going to do at school. The last thing they want to do is have to clean their home. That is not the kind of homework teachers enjoy! So how about a gift card from your local Two Maids & A Mop for a one-time or regular cleaning of their home. Can you imagine how happy your teacher would be knowing they would be greeted with a sparkly clean house after a crazy long day? Priceless!
There is no doubt that teachers are amazing beings and are absolutely some of the most important members of our society. So no matter what gift you chose – a gift card, movie night in, or a housecleaning by Two Maids & A Mop – make sure your teacher knows you value them and the time they spend each day helping your child become an amazing adult. After all, it takes a village!
